McDonald’s rolls out Wi-Fi

October 8, 2015

McDonald’s is planning to roll out a free Wi-Fi service in all its 1,200 UK fast food restaurants.

The move will make the company the UK’s largest provider of free wireless Internet access.

The Wi-Fi service is part of the company’s plans to move the brand upmarket. McDonalds began refurbishing its restaurants last year, with a muted green and yellow colour scheme replacing to traditional red and yellow.

Designer furnishings have also been introduced in some of its outlets and the menu has been updated with healthier options.

McDonald’s hopes the Wi-Fi service will attract business customers into its restaurants, while also benefiting its existing customer base.

McDonald’s is continuing with BT Openzone as its network partner and has signed up The Cloud as a hotspot access provider.

The free service will be rolled out across McDonald’s UK estate by the end of the year.
